Why did you name your company äußern (aussern)?

Originally to be a fashion company. I had ideas on designs, asked others to help, and then ran in to problems with intellectual properties. Scheduling problems. Since my LLC was about to expire, I repurposed the name to something that I could do: pressure washing. Since there are many companies with the word Expression in it, I choose to keep the German word with the umlaut Ä and Gernan ß (eszett). It is more about style than meaning. Already had an LLC, business bank account, and business credit card for Aussern, and getting a new LLC means starting from zero, I decided to keep the name, business accounts, and build from there.

Do you clean concrete?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Concrete curb, concrete driveway, concrete sidewalk, concrete driveway, concrete walkway, concrete floor, concrete patio, and anything else made of concrete. Also have a diesel powered water vessel to provide hot water/steam to clean heavy contamination. Chemicals may be applied to pretreat an area for specific stain removal.

Can you remove stains from concrete?

Yes. Oil, organics, rust, and most paint come off quickly. As far as getting chewing gum off, that will take a minute. There are chemical treatment options for removing most things found on and in concrete. Part of the decision to use a chemical is how it affects the surrounding area. The simplest treatment is hot water/steam pressure wand and/or surfacer.

What are the benefits of cleaning concrete?

Many. Concrete is a porous material that allows dirt, organics, oil, paint, transmission fluid, brake fluid, tire marks to get in to those pores turning your light colored concrete dark. This makes your home look old, unmaintained, depreciated. Some of these stains may not come out if not using a heated pressure washer system. If you are in the market of selling your home, curb appeal helps turn that maybe into a full price, or higher, offer. Pressure washing your concrete can also expose damaged concrete. Chemicals used to clean concrete can remove rust, oil, and organic growth. Photographs will be taken and shown during the quote.

Does cleaning concrete kill grass, roses, Koi ponds, or other present a risk to my cats, dogs, Emu, peacock, or other animals?

No. Concrete cleaning, solar panel, window, and house washing is, at the first stage, is a fresh water rinse. Concrete is a high pressure wash. Solar, window, and house washing is a low pressure wash. Will not even be using soap. Basically a wand and garden hose. What does kill grass, roses, Koi ponds and animals are chemicals. When a chemical is needed, we will speak before using to make sure that oil, rust, organic growth and compounds and your home are in agreement. Expectations will change based on if chemicals can be used or not.

Do you clean solar panels?

Yes. I use a high temperature pressure washer on solar panels. The water is heated as to not cause the solar panels to crack/shatter in the Las Vegas summer heat. Solar panels can reach 170 degrees or higher. Throwing 60 degree water on the solar panels will destroy them and void your warranty.

The dirt on the solar panels decrease the efficiency of converting sunlight to electricity. You may not be seeing the same energy production as last year. There may be no other problems with your system. Having your solar panels washed also gives you a visual inspection of the panels, roof, and central AC/heating unit, if mounted on roof. As part of the inspection, photographs will be taken to show you during the quote.

Do you do house washing?

Yes. Incredibly satisfying. Years of muddy rain water, organic growth (mold, moss) removed. Years of the most infitesimal changes removed in seconds. Your bright, beautiful home, waiting to shine again. My home is Stucco. Becomes dull just by having the wind blow. Five minutes of rain is even worse. A low pressure wash removes the dirt and restores the brightness of the paint. Yes, my home is 70 years old, and it is still beautiful. Having your house washed gives you immediate return on investment.

How do you do house washing?

Low pressure rinse first. This is the least invasive way to see if there is additional damage to a house. Age, maintenance or lack there of, infestation of bees, roaches, fire ants, spiders, rodents, anything that crawls or flys, possible wood rot, stucco coming off, vines or anything growing on the house, and fire hazzards. It's all about inspection and documentation. Then we can talk about expectations, including cost.

I provide a result. 'Done Right' If cost is your primary concern, there are other options specifically, other service providers. Result determines price. Not time.

Can you clean gutters?

Yes. Inside surface of the gutters to remove organic (leaves, dirty, tree branches, neighbors toys) and outside surface of mold, moss, oxidation to restore the original shine.

Do you remove graffiti?

I will try. Chemical remover will take off some/most of the spray paint, pressure washer may take off some more. An expectation of a fully restored, zero evidence of graffiti or further depreciation of a surface is not guaranteed. Concrete, wood, and asphalt surfaces are porous. Paint will fill in those pores, possibly leaving a ghost image behind. A test spot will be used during the quote to determine if there is an acceptable result.

Basically 7 days a week. I set aside Tuesday and Wednesday from 0700 to 19:00 to be in the office, doing paperwork, marketing, answering the phone, learning new skills to add to the service list. The website, directory submission, JSON-LD, SEO, and all things Internet is all me.

Why did you get in to this business?

Necessity. Was already working on cleaning my 70+ year old house. The equipment to do the work is not cheap to buy or even rent and paying someone else to do the work became a different problem: will they show up? After calling and being disappointed by several service companies, I decided to do the work myself. Not only is my house clean, other people can now get the same thing done by someone who shows up, does the work, is insured, and delivers 'Done Right'.

How did you get in to this business?

I've run other businesses in the past. Went with a LLC for a business license: Aussern LLC NV20212222908. Got licensed, domain name: aussern.com, put together a website, opened a business bank account, got listed with Google and Bing, listed with several business directories, and had business cards made. Understanding the market and understanding the mechanics behind making this a for profit business led me to finding other services to upsell and/or offer during slow months. I would rather have 40 customers all year for maintence than many more customers who buy once and never hear from them again. As far as the original question, I am a terrible employee. I would rather take my chances working for myself than working for some nameless, faceless, quick to hire, quicker to fire corporation. Being a disposable, interchangeable, readily replaceable commodity is something that I cannot accept. How did I get in to this business: attitude. I will not comply.
